16 inch rigid heddle loom
thingiverse
This is a 20-inch rigid heddle loom with a 6-dent reed. You can make it as wide or narrow as you need by adjusting the middle reed pieces. The loom's length depends on your space and work requirements. To assemble this loom, you'll need 9/16", 7/32", and 1/4" dowel rods along with #6 x 1/2" wood screws, plus the printed parts. I created this design initially for commercial purposes, but shipping proved to be more challenging than I was willing to handle. I ask that you don't try to sell these without consulting me first; if you do decide to share this design with others, consider offering me a commission from any sales generated by it. If you build and enjoy this loom, consider supporting my work through a small donation - https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=G3VJ9WZBPKQJA. Creoguy has developed a reed threading hook that you can find here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3845216, and NeerieD20 has made a modular shuttle/pickup stick available here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3258161. Instructions I'm not skilled in writing detailed instructions, so I'll include rendered sample images to help with the assembly process. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. If you need assistance learning how to warp a rigid heddle loom, check out this excellent video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8T2Q9RbLpA. To simplify the weaving and warping processes, I modified the standard design of the rigid heddle loom. Attach your warp strings to one of the dowel rods instead of the warping stick, as shown in the video. You won't need to use cardboard strips when rolling up your project since the knots will be concealed between the two dowel rods. Due to my changes from the original design, I added a tension bar that maintains a consistent height for your work instead of moving it up and down as you roll it up.
