These models are intended as a CAD asset for you to use in your own creations. It allows you to attach a design to a 15mm OD/13mm ID pipe using an internal connection, similar to how an expansion bolt works.The outer part of the design as pictured above in the assembled model has the screw head in it. This is the component that you should integrate into your model and the other parts should be printed separately.This is an initial functional version that will probably get re-visited and improved. It has been tested successfully on leftover pipe from home plumbing work.If you would like to view the 3D model in colour in your browser and with optional AR, this is available directly at the Shapr3D viewer here.VariantsThis section describes the purpose and flaws of each of the variants that connect to your model:A: This is designed to be easy to print when the inner side of this part (i.e. the end without a screw) is flat on the print bed. The flaw is it is harder to assemble as you need to get the right amount of tension before putting it in the pipe, which is often “fun” when inserting multiple pipes into a model.B: This is designed to be easy to use and fit when the end where the screw goes is on the print bed. The downside is the washer/screw stick out the side of your model.C: This is designed to be printed the same way as B but hide the screw and washer. The compromise is the bridging on the inside of the screw/washer hole.PrintingIt is suggested that a maximum layer height of 0.16 is used for the two separate parts that are not integrated into your model, as this helps when attaching this fitting by reducing the friction. A 0.4 nozzle or smaller will work fine. The infill is up to you, depending on how much stress you are going to put on it.UsingFor variant A the fitting needs to be at least finger tight before insertion into the pipe, so that there is enough friction for the inner part of the fitting to stay in place when you are screwing it in - but not so much that it expands before you insert it into the pipe.For the other variants they just need to be just tight enough so that the parts are locked together where there indentations on each match.You need the following:A 15mm or longer M4 bolt and M4 or washer (washer less than 10mm wide to fit in hole)An M4 or M4S Ruthex insert depending on the inner insert chosenVersions2023.10.01: Add 2 new variants of the part that attaches to your model which are easier to assemble.
