150mm quadcopter (Project sparkie)
thingiverse
Project Sparkie represents a culmination of all design improvements I made while creating my previous designs, the DJI Spark clone and the original Sparkie quadcopters. Taking the beneficial modifications from each of these previous designs, I combined them with new enhancements to create Project Sparkie. Please forgive any appearance of self-satisfaction, but this effort is one I am particularly proud of. The results are a 150mm frame build that offers excellent stability and acro capabilities, coupled with its impressive speed and power, it has become my favorite creation to date, an absolute pleasure to fly and so far proven very durable. The frame itself can accommodate a varied selection of electronics, allowing the builder to tailor it to their specifications to a certain degree. Its mounts are specified for 36x36mm sized FCs and can be stacked with a 4in1 ESC, or it can also accommodate four separate ESCs with careful wiring if the builder prefers. Motors can range from as small as 14's all the way up to 22's and are all tilted towards the frame's COG, which adds to the design's overall stability. It can use 5" props with minor tip trimming or function excellently with 4" tri-props (which is what I use). The camera is a TX03 Eachine AIO with its clover removed and replaced with a whip antenna. Battery options can also vary, depending on the builder's choices, as it stands my own build can use anything from a small 850mah 3s all the way up to a 2200 4s in size, the design has proven very versatile in lipo options. A basic lipo alarm is also included internally with the connection routed to a plug on the lower plate (see above pictures), not an essential item obviously but handy to have when you get carried away and don't hear your timer going off. I could continue listing countless variations, but it would become ridiculous, so I'll just state my own current build specs: Turnigy 2208 2600kv motors Afro 20amp AIO CC3D FC&ESC board TX03 AIO cam Flysky X6B RX Daldrop indestructables 4045 tri-props 3s lipo alarm (also internal) Lower plate reinforced with a 0.5mm carbon fiber plate (purely optional and more for looks than anything) I'm also including an alternative internal mounting board design for use with Naze32 Rev5, Rev6, and CC3D Atom FCs, the latter is decased and clamped in position (please see above pictures for reference), this board is designed to better accommodate the use of more common 4in1 ESCs stacked beneath the FC (as opposed to the AIO Afro board used in my own version of this frame). I can confirm the use of alternative boards is good as I've test fitted it with various FCs and am currently building a second frame using a CC3D Atom (see final picture), I'll add completed frame pictures at a later date.
