14mm Carbon Filter Bowl
thingiverse
Just a basic carbon filter with a 14 mm male and female thread. When you fill the bulb with active carbon, it really filters anything passing through it. The built-in screen also helps ensure purity of passage. Be cautious, though - attempting this at your own risk is advisable. PLA material is more natural and less chemical-heavy than ABS, which reduces harsh additives. I seriously doubt that chemicals will be released from the plastic since the printer wouldn't likely get hot enough for that to happen. My last printed design was functional but not perfect. However, adjusting it helped achieve better results. To modify the helix, you could clip some slack to tighten the male and loosen the female threads, though the first setup is still fully workable. Printed designs require activated carbon - I got mine from the fish tank section at Petco - then place it inside, rinse, and get ready for action. Print Settings: Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 mm Infill: 30 Notes: Printing these models is possible without supports. The helix-wrapped one tends to get a bit loose where the thread first starts, but that can be fixed with some clipping of filament drooping afterwards. All else should print just fine with no supports required.
