I just know yer curious by now, ain’t ya?” The little Gobnots are practically glued to Fungarius’ lips as he spins his tale. He begins to explain their great benefactor, the strange union of fungus and scaly flesh known as Vorghutog. Vorghutog is part ancient Dreadwyvern, part of the oldest fungal colony in the world. When the nameless Dreadwyvern laid down for what he assumed to be his last rest, he did not anticipate that the cave he had chosen had already played host to the eldest fungus in the world, a thing so ancient it had begun to develop sentience. Sensing its chance, it began to migrate into the slowly dying Dreadwyvern over decades. Once it had finally reached the brain, it began to communicate with the winged predator, and a strange sort of pact was formed. Vorghutog was born, but the fungus still had work to do in converting its body. And so, for millennia it lay dormant as its environment morphed. Eventually, a tiny floating spore breathed out by the creature reached a wandering Gobnot. Many years later, it would speak in the voice that guided Fungarius to his destiny. Now, Vorghutog is satisfied with its body and has begun hunting throughout the Vargattu jungle. Each flap of its wings breaks trees apart and infects them with fungal growths. Each of its breaths chokes the life from its prey. And Vorghutog is hungry - not for food, but for infection. It will not rest until it has touched every single thing in this world. For in the end, despite its warped intelligence, it is a fungus that seeks to spread.
