13" - 15" Laptop-stand
prusaprinters

Most laptop stands in the web are for 13" laptops. Others are too big for my ender 3 print bed. Therefore I designed this laptop stand with separate parts to fit my ender 3 V2 print bed.

I created this laptop stand to lift the laptop with it's webcam by approx. 14cm to be leveled with an external monitor.

A Din A4 page fits between two horizontal stands.

The rounded dovetails of the upright parts slide into each other like puzzle tiles. The horizontal beams stabilize it.

Update 2022-11

The front part of the laptop stand has more smooth corners and the clearance in the locking puzzle-like locking mechanisms is reduced.

The holes in the top beam are resized to fit clamped cables better.

Part Overview

There are three iterations: V4, V5 and 2022. Generally, they are compatible to each other and only the relevant parts are shown:

Front Part

LaptopStand22_Front: This is the newest iteration of the front part. The part is smoother than the older iterations. V4 and V5 offer no other functions, therefore they are deleted.

The design resembles gothic church windows to allow upright printing without support.

Back Part

The back part is available in two different iterations. Shown here LaptopStand22_Back.

Print the back part upright and without support.

Back V4

This was the first iteration of the laptop stand, where my laptop was very big. The inclined plane of the laptop is 27 cm deep. I didn't update this version as it is too big for my laptop. But it is still compatible to the new parts.

LaptopStand22_Back

This version is more suitable for smaller 13" laptops: The inclined plane where the laptops sits has a depth of 24cm, when both parts are combined.

I deleted the V5 version of the back part, because I removed to unnecessary “hooks” at the back. No other major change here.

Lower Beams

You need two beams at the bottom. Shown in the picture LaptopStand22_BeamDown.

BeamDown_V4

Original design with a width between the stand of 21,5 cm.

LaptopStand22_BeamDown

This beam allows more space between the upright parts. A DIN A4 page fits much easier now: Inner width of 25cm.

You need to disable skirt to print this diagonally on an Ender 3.

Top Beam

Shown here LaptopStand22_BeamTop.

BeamUp_V4

This beam corresponds to BeamDown_V4 with a distance of 21,5cm between the stands.

LaptopStand22_BeamTop

This top beam correspons to LaptopStand22_BeamDown. In contrast to V4, the holes are resized to clamp some cables better.

You need to disable skirt to print this diagonally on an Ender 3.

Print Settings

Printer Creality Ender 3 V2

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2

Infill: 10%

Filament: Material4Print PLA Anthrazitsilber

I printed those parts with PLA with only 8% infill on the big parts and 10%-15% infill on the beams.

Post-Printing

Just stick the parts together ...

I realized that the shrinking of filament differs. The blue filament needs no clueing, the parts all just click in place.

The turquoise filament on the other hand shrinks a little bit and the parts are a little bit loose. But none of them ever fell apart because of the weight of the laptop, which is enough to stabilize the parts.
