I installed a box around the adapter and mounted the electronics. The result is a seamless integration that works flawlessly. I converted an old 12-volt direct current vacuum battery pack from nickel-cadmium cells to lithium-ion cells. Although the unit was given to me without a charger, I would have taken it one step further and modified it to charge the new pack if it had come with one. My first priority was designing a head that could connect seamlessly to the pack. The design fit perfectly around the battery pack, and the slots on the side provided an ideal opportunity to install some brushes that could securely connect to the battery terminals. The brushes were created by stripping strands of copper wire, fanning them out, and applying a layer of tinning for added conductivity. To secure everything in place, I used hot melt glue with confidence.
