I employed this submersible pump for my aquarium and kiddie pool. I engineered a mesh screen (2 millimeter holes) that fits snugly on top without requiring any fasteners or adhesive. This shield safeguards the inner turbine from getting clogged with hair, tiny debris, and insects.
