12V AGM Battery Box for Walker Bay 8 sailing dinghy
prusaprinters
Walker Bay dinghies are very popular and widely used around the world. I recently decided to outfit my Walker Bay 8 sailing dinghy with an electric trolling motor. I bought a half size 12V DC battery (Duracell SLADC12-35J) which is plenty of power for a full day low speed excursion, and immediately found the need for a way to secure a battery into the dinghy so it isn't tipping over or sliding around. This print should be made in two passes. You'll want to print three of the triangular keel adapters. They print the box with 9 of the pegs - the pegs are for slotting into the holes in the box and into the keel adapters for a little extra support. I glue them on with solvent based glue on a PETG print. To keep them from sliding around, I glued half-inch foam strips onto one side of the keel supports. Great fit and the angle of the triangular adapters fit the keel profile.
