12V 30A PSU Cover Plate with Switch and XT60 Connector
thingiverse
This terminal cover was designed for a typical 30A 12V regulated power supply used in a 3D printer. It features a hole for an IEC plug/switch assembly (such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00511QVVK/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item) and a mounting hole for a female XT60 connector. The design includes a large section for easy insertion of the other plug, a tighter section to hold the connector in place, and a smaller section at the back to prevent the connector from being pushed backwards. The user reports that the printed design works well, but trimming of the IEC connector slot was necessary due to a low-quality print. The XT60 connector has not been tried yet. To assemble this cover, you will need a PSU similar to this one (http://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Universal-Regulated-Switching-Computer/dp/B009EIANT2), an IEC connector like the one mentioned above, and 10A 5x20mm fuses. First, ensure that the connector fits in the mounting hole on the cover; if not, use a knife to adjust it. For wiring, use 14AWG wire and dismantle an IEC cable for convenience and correct coloring. Solder a green wire from the ground connector of the socket to the PSU's ground terminal. Identify the live and neutral connections on the socket using a multimeter and connect them accordingly to the switch contacts on the IEC connector. Finally, connect the white and black wires from the socket to the neutral and line terminals, respectively, and attach the green wire to the PSU's ground terminal. Ensure all connections are correct, and you should have around 12V output. Mount the cover onto the PSU using drilled mounting screw holes, following any additional instructions provided in the source material.
