12864 LCD adapter Anet A8
thingiverse
This adapter/housing is designed for the 12864 LCD panel, which requires an update for the Anet A8 to Ramps or equivalent and the use of the 12864 LCD panel. Ensure that it's the version with the knob under the display (also known as the Reprap Discount Full Graphic Smart Controller) and not aside, as this is a very tight fit. Be aware that this version reduces the Z-space to 225 mm because combining it with the Z-axis ball bearing already minimizes the Z-space. Make sure to limit your Z-axis in Marlin to avoid collision with the upper frame. The back side features an opening for the LCD connectors, which is relatively narrow due to removing the black housing from the connectors on the LCD's back side. This was necessary because the connector housing was installed 180 degrees wrong, a common issue that can be resolved by searching online. Assembly of the housing and LCD requires some fine-tuning, possibly involving grinding the notches depending on your printer's accuracy. Once adjusted, you can assemble it using 4 M3 x 18 countersunk screws for the entire structure and 4 M3 screws with nuts for mounting over the hole from the original LCD. To print the housing, orient it with the front side at the bottom and the back side with notches facing upwards. Printing speed may reach 60 mm, and a PLA material is recommended. Infill should be set to 30% or more. For the knob, you can select any suitable option or find one on Thingiverse that fits perfectly.
