125x125 Calibration Print With Holes
thingiverse
Hey All I've been struggling with bolt hole accuracy & shrinkage causing my prints overall to be terrible. but i've come up with a multiple check print. I've remixed this calibration piece by Sebastius to be a bit longer in the X & Y and added holes so I can actually check bolt hole centers are correct as these matter the most to me. - First I check my calibrated E steps of my machine are correct by measuring with a digital Vernier. - Using PLA, Print the calibration part to check for accuracy, using PLA is great since there is no shrinkage, if the part is 100% +/- 0.075mm accurate to the drawing then you know your printer is perfectly dialed in and doing all the correct movements and traveling the correct distances. In my opinion bolt hole spacing is number 1 to knowing the printer is actually calibrated correctly and you E Steps are set correctly. - Next step for me is ABS and materials which shrink. now you can work out how much smaller or larger your print needs to be to get the bolt hole centers corrected then use other slicer tools to bring the model back to the correct length and width. eg horizontal expansion and hole horizontal expansion in Cura All the squares are 10x10mm
