I am particularly proud of this one, a Pokemon Scyther Dual Low-Poly model. Printed in a single piece with no supports, lots of brim, it's a testament to my printing skills. The model is massive, with the IRL picture nearly 23cm tall. I printed it big because I like to push the limits of my printer. The settings were 5shells and 30%infill, with no supports, but I did use a 5ct brim to ensure secure build plate adhesion. I also slowed down the print speed to 30mms and increased the temperature by about 10c. I was worried that all the small parts would lose layer adhesion or become fragile due to the high surface area and low volume of the model. However, the print time wasn't significantly affected by adding lots of infill. I didn't print the single extruder version, but it should work similarly without extra walls between colors. I managed to print this successfully in one piece on the first try, but here are some scary parts of the print and potential helpful hints: Before the first shoulder is printed, the lower arm is supported by a small area at an angle for a long time. I made sure to use a brim to prevent any issues. The tiny fangs are the only two parts holding up his snout and head until the back of his jaw is printed. If you experience trouble, consider using custom support in the mouth or slowing down the print on those layers. The wings are skinny and individual islands, dual-colored, making them prone to warping or getting caught on the nozzle or string due to retraction settings. I have an upgraded parts cooler fan setup that seems to benefit all my prints. The upper arm is at a quite aggressive angle, about 65 degrees, which tests cooling and control. I simply hoped for the best and ignored the danger, but it worked out. On January 10, 2019, I discovered what I thought was an artifact of warping between the colors of his upper arm was actually a modeling issue where the two models were cutting a four-sided polygon in opposite directions, creating a gap. I have uploaded a fixed version of Main and Detail.
