My wife is a big fan of Vicks thermometers for checking our son's temperature. The sneaky engineers behind those devices cleverly designed them to require a hard-to-find battery, which led my wife to go out and buy a brand new thermometer instead of just ordering the batteries herself. I have to wonder if that was a deliberate move on Vicks' part. I had been holding onto 927 batteries in my drawer for who knows how long, and they just happen to be the same thickness and voltage as the original ones, only with a smaller diameter. I took it upon myself to design an adaptor that would allow me to use the batteries I already had on hand. This is a pretty specialized project, so I'm guessing not many people will actually need it, but I like to share my creations with others anyway.
