I designed this device to rapidly dehumidify a confined space. It's intended for use with a standard 120mm fan, which is mounted upside down at the base so that the fan remains suspended above the surface it rests on. The tube is packed tightly with 3mm or larger silica gel beads, and the lid securely encloses them to prevent any spills. As the fan operates, it forces air through the system past the silica beads, enabling the beads to absorb moisture from the surrounding air. A hole in the center of the tube ensures that static pressure doesn't build up high enough to impede airflow from the fan.
