120mm fan bracket for iStarUSA D400 Case
thingiverse
This is a simple bracket which is meant to fit a 120mm fan into the 3x 5.25 inch drive bays on an iStar D-400 case. It's 2021 and the 5.25 inch drive bay on my case wasn't doing anything useful so I created this. ### Printing: This is a pretty simple print. Speed and quality are up to you, but I chose quick and dirty as this is a functional part that's never going to be 'seen'. See attached photo for suggested print orientation. No supports needed, but you could opt to use them for the 4x recessed holes where the screws that attach the fan go. ### Install In each drive cage, there are 6 holes, three on each side. These are the holes that the 'blank' plates were secured to. They are intentionally undersized to ensure the screws have plenty to bite into. I used a lighter to heat up the screw threads for ~ 10s before driving the screw into the plastic. This slightly melts the plastic around the screw forming threads. The 4 holes where the fan is secured to the part are also slightly undersized. I suggest using the self-tapping screws that came with your fan to cut threads in the part before attaching the fan. I suggest installing the plate in the drive cage before installing the fan.
