120mm ELectric Ducted Fan

This is a new design for a 120mm Single Stage EDF, built with robustness in mind. The turbine design has been changed and settled on an air foil design for the fins. Printer Settings: Printer Brand: Robo Printer: R1 Material: PLA Model Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .2mm Infill: 75/100 Notes: Print heavy supports on the blade, the base uses minimal supports. Printed in PLA. Post-Printing: Post process is not required as I did nothing to clean up the print. If you have access to a vibratory tumbler, it's recommended to let them roll in that for a few hours to reduce ribbing. Custom Section: Project: 120MM EDF Objectives: Build a modular 120mm Sized EDF with the ability to change the fan blade and find more efficient fan profiles. Audiences: Recommended for High School level And Above, with an interest in Engineering and or Flight will help. Prior knowledge of EDF or at least a little research on them would be good, as well as knowledge of RC class Electric motors. Steps: I started by looking at photos of other EDF's. Noted that all the ones I found used a straight contoured fin rather than an airfoil, with the Angle of attack always the same and constant. The core that the fins attach to were way too big. So I decided to design MY own. I started with just a straight Airfoil, which worked but didn't look right. Thought I could get a more efficient blade by modifying the blade assembly 4 times until I settled on what I was happy with. Running a RC370 motor and it runs lower RPM's than I would like but still moves a lot of air. Results: Built a working model, fit is good, balance is good. However, learned that a more powerful motor is needed, perhaps stators at the bottom of the cowl to direct the air. It moves air very well on lower RPM's but would like to run it in the 4500-10K RPM range to see what Thrust can be accomplished. I have learned that the Fan blade is the biggest part of this and I will continue to tweak it as much as I can to get the most thrust.
