12.Hornby O Gauge Tender Detail Kit

I've been collecting trains for years, but I recently stumbled upon an old 1950s Hornby tin plate engine in a charity shop that I couldn't resist buying. It brought back memories of the engine my siblings had left me when they moved out, and my efforts to get it running again by oiling the motion, replacing worn-out wheels, and fixing the broken spring. In primary school, I was always the go-to person for fixing other kids' trains. Usually, all it took was a good oiling to get them moving again, but occasionally, I had to remove the backs from tank engines to access the cabs or loosen the tags holding the smoke box door in place to clean the boiler inside. It's no surprise that this engine was missing those parts and needed some TLC. Now that I have my new old engine, I'm wondering what to do next. Should I wait for a cheap body to show up on eBay and cannibalize it, or design my own using 3D printing? The possibilities are endless, but I need your input. As part of my ongoing restoration project, I've been replacing worn-out parts with new ones, including wagon wheels and complete tenders. I've created a series of prints that I'll add to over time, and some of the items I've modeled are based on internet photos, so any feedback on details like size would be appreciated. My tender project is based on a real 1949 draughtsman's plan for B12, D16, J18, J19, and J20 classes. It uses a single filler cap instead of the later twin cap design used in some other locomotives. Yeadon's Register confirms that only one B12 used a 3450-gallon tender, although both 3700- and 3450-gallon variants are identical-looking. To create an OO B12/3 tender, I'll also produce a 3700-gallon version. I've added new, better-scaled GER 12-spoke wheels for my LNER-style 3450-gallon tender and 10-spoke wheels for the 3700-gallon version. Here are the prints I've created so far: * GER 12 Spoked Tender Wheel.stl * GER 12 Spoked Tender Center Wheel.stl * LNER 10 Spoked Tender Wheel.stl * LNER 10 Spoked Tender Center Wheel.stl To complete a model tender, you'll need: 11.
