110mm calibration piece

For easy calibration, utilize this large printable piece with dimensions of 110mm for both X and Y axes and 4mm height. All squares on the piece measure 10mm x 10mm. This calibration tool is superior to smaller pieces as it enables detection of even minor errors. A 2% error in a print, equating to 3mm at this size, would be challenging to identify with a standard 20mm calibration cube that gives a .4mm difference. To use the piece for calibration, follow these steps: Print, cool, measure, calibrate, print again, measure, and calibrate once more. Obtain your X or Y calibration value from the slicer software, then measure the respective length of the printed piece. Apply the following formula to calculate the new calibration value: (110 x OldCalib) / Measurement = NewCalib. With an old X calibration value of 61.2555 and a measured length of 107.5mm, the calculation would be: 110 x 61.2555 = 6738.105, then 6738.105 / 107.5 = 62.6800. Thus, your 3D printer is now better calibrated!
