This efficient manipulator, suitable for a mobile robot, effortlessly handles spherical objects like water bottles in tight spaces and operates door knobs. To stay within budget, ease of manufacture (and maintenance) was paramount, utilizing readily available components. The 11 DOF arm features a main section with 4 DOF (Yaw-Pitch-Pitch-Prismatic), a 3 DOF wrist, a 2 DOF gripper, and a 2 DOF pan-tilting sensor head.
