Drill the rod chases with a 3mm drill and insert smooth rods in inboard holes for a tight but movable fit, followed by securing screws in outboard holes and tightening wingnuts/washers on the other side to clamp the movement. Avoid using grease on rods to prevent contamination. Unproven designs can be customized via OpenSCAD for different movement sizes. To use the holder, remove the crown and any holding clamps before taking out the movement; disassemble further by removing hands, dial, and date disc if needed. Ensure a snug fit without warping the plate. For practice, consider affordable new watches with high-quality Chinese movements that can easily meet COSC specs with a daily rate of -4/+6 sec when regulated.
