10mm Modular Tree
thingiverse
I have spent countless hours in forests, but I was never satisfied with the trees available. After discovering the Dwarven Forge kickstarter, I fell in love with their trees and decided to create my own version. This is my initial test, a 10mm trunk, featuring four distinct sections: a trunk, a plain stem, a branch stem, and a top section. Each part is held together using pegs, which are printed separately for easier assembly. The two canopies have been split in half to facilitate printing, with a small amount of Super Glue required to join them together. One canopy is designed for the Stem section, featuring a hole that allows it to be easily attached, while the other is intended for the top section. Notches on the inside of each canopy will align perfectly with the major branches on the stems. By printing these canopies as separate objects, I can create winter trees and also display the battle map if players move beneath them. A cavity in the stump allows for a magnet to be inserted, which is held in place by a stop created using the Prusa Colour Print. This addition helps ensure stability. If there is enough interest, I plan to design a wider, more decorative base (which is likely anyway). Future plans include creating different branch structures and plain stumps to add variety, as well as 15mm and 25mm size options. The trunk and branches have been printed at 0.1mm layer height using a 0.25mm nozzle, while the branches were printed at 0.15mm with a 0.4mm nozzle. Edit: The stump file has been updated to correct an earlier mistake.
