10mm LED Bicycle Chain Style Mount
thingiverse
I wanted to craft a string of LEDs for a flexible display panel that would catch my eye. The original plan was to build a 16x16 color-changing panel, but after experimenting with flexibility in mind, this simple design evolved into something more complex. Wiring is straightforward with these slow color-change 10mm LEDs, connected in parallel. These LEDs are incredibly bright, making them almost impossible to see with the naked eye, until I discovered a trick that allows me to place a screen of either paper or thin polystyrene (depron) in front of them. By adjusting the distance and angle between the LED and the screen, I can create a multitude of effects. The fun really begins when you alter the shape of the chain. What's great is that the chain keeps the orientation and alignment of the LEDs perfectly symmetrical, pointing forwards with precision.
