10cm Coaster Jig for Laser Engraving

10cm Coaster Jig for Laser Engraving

thingiverse

Designed to hold 10 cm slate or ceramic tiles in place for engraving with a laser. You can use it to make tile placement more exact each time you engrave. Multiple units will snap together to create a grid any dimension you like. For instance my laser will take a 4x3 grid so I can program Lightburn to engrave 12 tiles at once. I create a base layer with non-printing squares the size of the grid I need (105mm), then simply drag the graphics onto the grid. Once I line my laser up with the lower left corner of my assembled grid I can just start it and walk away. No more doing one tile at a time, or getting multiple tiles out of alignment. It is currently designed to hold Michaels bulk slate 10 cm tiles, with the rubber feet attached. If using tiles with no feet the tabs will need to be made thinner so that the tile will lay flat. In the future I also plan to scale it up a bit so that it will take 4-1/4" tiles that I picked up as scrap. This will simply require scaling the whole model by a factor of 1.08 or so. I've included the original Fusion 3D model if you want to make your own changes.
