A stepper calibration model designed to be more accurate, and use less time and material than, a standard calibration cube. Large measurements limit the effect of extrusion inconsistencies, human error, measuring tool inaccuracies, and printing errors; and rounded edges ensure that dimensional accuracy of the measuring surfaces is not affected by bulging corners. The circular tower uses a bit more than 3/4 of the material a square tower would, and allows the printer to move smoothly. Smooth movement gives less opportunity for the print to be separated from the build plate. The rounded features predominantly used in the print also cause less wear on hardware for printers which do not support linear advance, and have their jerk settings adjusted for accurate corners. The X and Y booms have a narrow width, allowing for strong bridging in the print. As a result, it may be skeletonized, with slicing features such as Cura's surface mode, for even less print time and material use. Dimensional accuracy is maintained, although greater care is required for a sufficiently accurate measurement of X and Y. Accuracy in the Z axis is increased, as surface imperfections from top fill are eliminated when the tower is left open. Even if the temperature is too high or print speed is too low for proper bridging, dimensional accuracy is preserved by the small diameter and large height of the tower.
