100W LED/Lens Spacer
thingiverse
This is a custom spacer I created for the Chinese 100W LED modules frequently sold on Amazon and eBay, accounting for the gap between the LED mounting surface, usually a heatsink, and the lens holder, typically the 44mm lens holders. I didn't want to purchase spacers or fill the gaps with washers and/or nuts, so I designed and printed my own. The design has undergone several revisions. Initially, it was modified to support the lens holder. Next, notches were added for the solder tabs on the LED. Finally, wire channels were incorporated to tidy everything up. As with any other project, use at your own risk. I haven't fully tested this spacer. I've had a 100W LED running as long as it took for the heatsink to reach 110F and then shut it down. This took around 15 seconds, so I cannot guarantee its reliability under prolonged use. This spacer was designed for a studio light that will be used in flash photography, which shouldn't generate much heat at all. Use either M3 or 4-40 screws. Rotate the model X:180 degrees and no supports are required.
