I originally designed a 100mm x 100mm x 15mm mounting plate that serves as the foundation for my security system mounts on the eave of my pole building, which is supported by three stacked 2x6's measuring approximately 5.5" x 5.5". This slightly smaller size allows it to sit flush with the end grain of the boards. I'm sharing this design so you can utilize it in your own projects and mount whatever you need, providing a clean canvas for customization.
