100mm Easel w/ continuous filament hinge technique - aka Cell Phone Stand

Hello Friends, here's another cool design for the Lab. I've been working with a few different designs with what I call continuous filament hinge technique. Show off the filament color in between the hinges! Also, there is less work assembling when dealing with multiple hinge sections. This little 100 mm easel works great for Cell Phone, Tablets and even your picture of Grandma ;) There are two versions with different hook lengths. Low is for devices and High is for picture frames, etc. To assemble, cut a section of filament 115mm long and trim the end to create a pointed tip. Melt the other end slightly with a small blue flame pen torch, allow to cool to form perfect rivet head. Starting at the top insert the filament pin through the hinge sections and pull snug. Here is the tricky part: trim the excess pin to 2mm and very carefully melt the bottom end of the filament hinge pin. Blow on your easel and the pin to cool in between flame exposures. Take your time do not rush this step and all will be well. :) Tip!! Lighters work to melt the filament but they will leave soot on your fine work. Blue flame has no soot, aka black smoke residue. Hay World, lets see some more use of the continuous filament hinge technique in your designs! Enjoy!! More to come from The 3D Laboratory in 2022 - Follow Us for more great ideas in Art and Science!
