100% printed Filament Spool Dispenser
thingiverse
This spool feeder is engineered to let your printer effortlessly retrieve filament without tangling. The rotatable turntable at the base enables the printer to pull the spool in the direction with the least resistance, while the rollers on top permit easy release of its filament. This design will function with MakerBot Large and XL spools and likely work with most other brands. This design is 100% 3D-printable, created to have virtually no supports required. It is intentionally built to contain sturdy components that can be printed at a low infill setting without compromising structural integrity. However, this design still needs some fine-tuning. Here are some enhancements to come: -Some aesthetic improvements will be made. -An actual photograph of the print in progress is pending. -A file with all parts clearly laid out and MakerBot-compatible. Instructions Step 1: Print everything; you'll need one set of each except for the ball and bearing files. Six balls and four bearings are required. Step 2: Insert the six balls into the base assembly. Step 3: Snap the swivel-top onto the base and balls, ensuring it moves smoothly. Step 4: Secure a bearing to each post on the dispenser sides, then insert the posts into their designated slots on the central support beam. Step 5: Assemble the dispenser by plugging the newly created assembly into the base unit (comprising steps 2-3). Step 6: Position your filament vertically on the dispenser with its working end emerging from the bottom. Step 7: Savor a cup of coffee and relish a piece of pecan pie, for you're now done!
