10 Turn Helical Antenna
thingiverse
This is a 10-turn helical antenna for 5.8GHz video receivers. Plenty of YouTube tutorials and websites detail the build process, so it's not necessary to document it here. To replicate this project, gather the following components: - 1.6mm solid copper wire - Copper-coated PCB, which can be cut using a mini table saw (available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1708586) - Coax cable and an SMA connector or a PCB-mounted SMA connector ABS plastic was used to print the antenna frames, with CA glue applied to hold everything together securely. The design is intended as a right-handed antenna, but it's likely possible to build a left-handed version by flipping one of the frames 180 degrees. This antenna has been successfully tested at distances exceeding 7 kilometers. Update: January 2, 2019 A hole was found missing in "Helical 10 Turn - B.stl," so the STL file has been updated. If you printed the original design, simply drill a hole where necessary to complete the project.
