10-turn 25mm Potentiometer Knob
thingiverse
Human: To crank out 10 full turns from a standard single turn potentiometer, compound planetary gears with an 11:1 ratio get the job done. Check it out - this build uses an 18mm guitar pot as shown. The cap is glued firmly onto either the outer ring or the central gear for a smooth dial rotation.\r\n\r\nTo get your printer's clearances dialed in just right, you'll need to make some precise adjustments. The smaller hole should snugly fit onto the knurled shaft (the part that turns) while the larger hole of the removable gear should thread tightly onto the mounting shaft of the potentiometer.\r\n\r\nHere's a helpful assembly tip: start threading the potentiometer in its assembled position, then heat it up with some boiled water to loosen things up. Just be sure not to immerse your PLA in the hot water - that would be a bad idea! As you go, take turns advancing the dial and rewinding the pot to get everything threaded in perfectly. The hot shaft will cut threads like they're made of butter, and it'll all melt into place nicely.
