10 laser commandments
thingiverse
A simple sign for makerspaces to help their users remember dos and don'ts when using a laser cutter. The design is a straightforward Adobe Illustrator file made in two versions, one for engraving text and the other for reverse engraving text. Post-Printing Optional Finishing If you used spray paint and reverse engraving to make your sign, consider sealing the paint afterward as it may rub off. Once you're finished, share it with the world. Pre Printing Introduction The picture shows a sign made from granite composite material. I created this by following these simple steps: I had a piece of granite cut to shape using a water jet cutter. I painted the cut piece with a matte black spray paint. I reverse engraved the piece to remove all the paint except where text should be displayed. All Done Preparing the File Before making your own sign, consider changing some details: The top name "Labtools" is the name of the people in charge of the lab where this sign is placed. You might want to reflect your maker space's name here. "Ulla Versal" is our laser cutter's name, which you may also want to change. Carefully read through the 10 points and ensure they accurately represent your space's views.
