10-cylinder double-row sleeve-valve radial engine
grabcad
This design incorporates Burt-McCollum sleeve valve technology, featuring a 10-cylinder double row radial engine with a 65cc displacement. The port geometry has been simplified for improved opening space and better timing. Similar to the British Bristol Hercules/Centaurus engines, this engine utilizes numerous gears to drive its sleeves, ensuring smooth operation. However, the center section requires a larger diameter compared to poppet valve designs. One area for improvement is the crankshaft, which currently consists of an excessive number of parts.
