I'm taking care of the wildlife this winter by creating The FoodPod. Named after the service pods on the USS Discovery from 2001 A Space Odyssey, it's a two-part design that fits together and locks for hanging. I've also added a foot to attach it to bird tables or windowsills, and it can be used as a bowl too. For extra stability, you can epoxy it together - my prototype has withstood many knocks and rough handling from pigeons, crows, and squirrels.
