They grow with age and can be as tall as the largest redwoods or bowed and gnarled as ancient oaks. Their skin is as rough as bark and hair and beard usually resembles moss and ferns. Most ancient of them are loners who spend their time walking the deepest parts of the forest and listening to the sounds of encroaching civilization. They are mostly neutral in the affairs of wider world, and they concern themselves with the lives of the trees and other forest dwellers, but they will defend their forest from all commers. Rightly considering themselves a force of nature, which can turn the entire forest against any who would destroy it, these mighty beings answer to no one, but they will heed the call of the Lady of the Forest.
