$10.00Carbonyte Lockable Mini-Safe

With the release of the GiftBot 5000 (see elsewhere in my collection), I finally grasped that I had cracked how to make a proper working 3D printed lock. Yes, I know hundreds have probably accomplished the same feat, and numerous individuals on this site have done the same with some truly impressive results. However, this was a milestone for me. I aimed to craft my next gift/jewellery box as a lockable one, and when pondering the theme, there was only one idea that instantly came to mind: a safe. If you've watched Ant Man, you'll recall that Carbondale used to manufacture safes back in the 1910s, so I subtly nodded towards this with the name. A similarity to a certain Galaxy Far Far Away is purely coincidental... O:) Carbondale safes were usually black, but in my imagination at least, vintage safes are supposed to be dark green with gold accents, and therefore I thought it'd be an excellent style to emulate. I won't gloss over this; this project requires a significant investment of time. It took me approximately three days to print everything and about an hour and a half to assemble the entire piece. I recommend building the front first: put the locking mechanism together with the key (there's a channel through the middle of the key into which you can insert a length of filament, just to give it a bit more structural strength), then the hinges and attach them all. It'll be much easier to construct the rest of the piece working backwards from there. If you encounter any difficulties, please don't hesitate to reach out; I did make it a tad fiddly, I admit, but I'm confident in your abilities! If you're really not up for printing it yourself, I do sell these fully printed and assembled pieces in my Etsy store - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/enterprisexddesign
