Significance and Works Cited Significance: The wax seal, bearing the Boylston family crest, holds great historical significance. Description: The Boylston family seal is prominently displayed on this object. President John Adams used his mother's family seal to sign the Treaty of Paris. Presidential Role & Contribution: John Adams' action as Chief Diplomat in signing the Treaty of Paris brought an end to the Revolutionary War. Adams chose the Boylstons' family seal because his own family did not have a seal of their own. The wax seal is now held by the National Park Service in Massachusetts, and its significance has been recognized as public domain.
