Warren G Harding and his cabinet. Significance & Research Presidential Role & Contribution Chief Legislator- He negotiated with congress to pass or veto laws. Chief Executive- He made all the important decisions for our country during his presidency, and held discussions with other foreign leaders. Chief of Party- Being a republican he was the head of the Republican party. Contribution: Tea Pot Dome Scandal His cabinet took bribes from big oil companies and leased federal oil at rates without competitive bidding. This happened at oil reserves in Wyoming and California. Significance of Object: Republicans in Congress easily got the President's signature on their bills. They eliminated wartime controls and slashed taxes, established a Federal budget system, restored the high protective tariff, and imposed tight limitations upon immigration.
