1 inch PVC couplers
thingiverse
When hanging spool holders, I like to use 1 inch schedule 40 PVC as it's fairly rigid over longer spans. These couplers create an easy solution for joining PVC sections. They are intentionally created with flat surfaces for easy printing.I recommend 'sinking' one of the models into your print bed and doing a quick print to determine if the peg diameter is correct. I've found quite a bit of variation when purchasing PVC, so a quick test is better than performing a full print. I've sized them a bit on the small side. For adjustment, you can try the following:Scale the model up for down to match your PVC (e.g. +100.6%)Wrap tape around the pegs to make them more secureGlue them. PVC glue for example will probably melt PLA, so choose a glue wisely! Gorilla Glue? Adhesive caulk? Share any findings.DO NOT use these to create anything to support a human (furniture, scaffolding, hang-glider, etc). This model is not structural, more to help with racks and enclosures.I print in PLA at 15% gyroid infill, and use 4 walls on the top, bottom, and sides. Works well enough. I use organic supports as they always seem to remove more cleanly than Grid or Snug support.I may add variations based on need.
