I adore D&D and my 3D Printer, but I don't have enough time to print all the miniatures I want as a DM. So, I discovered a solution by using paper minis, like Printable Heroes, where credit for this miniature goes. The issue with paper minis, though, is they blow away at the slightest breeze. Everyone kept telling me to tape pennies to the bottom, but that's a problem because pennies still have monetary value, albeit only 1 cent. I got frustrated pulling off those darn pennies to reuse on other mobs. Then, I was inspired by my kid's board games, like Chutes and Ladders, where cardboard characters are propped up using plastic stands. Eureka! I set out to create something similar and made my first test print. This gave me the best of both worlds: it reduced the time I needed to spend cutting out and pasting figures to stand and cut down on 3D printing time for miniatures. This stand is designed to work with card stock paper, down to standard printer paper (half folded and pasted). It's perfect for 1 inch based figures ("5ft by 5ft" for 1 inch square). Soon to come are stands for 2 inch based figures and so on. After using these stands for a couple weeks, I liked them, but there were a few times they got frustrating with the minis falling off. So, I went back to take another look. I decided the angle approach wasn't the best. Instead, I chose a straight down design with bumps to secure the paper. This gives a much better hold for folded stock card. Standard printer paper is too thin when folded once, but with an extra fold at the bottom, it's perfect.
