Print the stencil, add a layer of newspaper to the edges for extra masking, and airbrush your design onto the felt. The hex lines serve as the masked portion, allowing you to create diverse designs. For example, use a green felt and airbrush varying shades of green and brown to achieve a natural grassy scenery with the original green showing through for the hex outlines. Similarly, airbrushing on black felt and sprinkling paint for stars and nebula can produce an immersive space battle environment with the plain black outlines still visible for hex spaces.
