1 Gang Architrave Dry Lining / Plasterboard Box
thingiverse
When Building out my workshop I wanted speaker posts on the walls with wires installed behind the wall to avoid unsightly wires running all over my new workshop, I discovered Architrave sized Speaker posts, (https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=architrave+speaker+plate&ref=nb_sb_noss_2) but there is no such thing as a dry lining/plasterboard box mounts for this size format - until now! Ideal situations call for using Architrave Size Plates/Switches without a surface mounted box or a metal back box (which are typically only used for brick installations, or unwieldy flanges.) Make your cutout as per the dimensions below and install the box without the clips. Then simply install the clips and pull them forward slightly as you tighten the screws. The clips will pull against the backside of the plasterboard to secure your 1 gang architrave fitting just like a regular dry lining plasterboard box! No supports are required. Technical info: Width: 25mm Height: 79mm Depth: 30mm Rear entry hole: 10MM Surface thickness: 3-18mm* Screw fitting: M3.5 Screw (Standard) This box will fit surfaces with a thickness of 3-18mm thick, which could also be used on sheet materials as well as plasterboard surfaces. Note the print orientation outlined below to help with fitting. Safety first! If you plan to use this for a switch or something carrying mains voltage then do so with care. The plastics used in dry lining boxes are made from flame-retardant thermoplastics. In my case, I printed in PETG which has a melting point of 230-250c, which should be more than sufficient. If you plan to use this for a mains voltage switch I strongly advise printing with PETG or some other high-temperature plastic. If your application is low voltage or for speaker posts then you do not need to consider this. Good luck and please share your installations with me if you do use this!
