1 Cubic Centimeter Scoop

1 Cubic Centimeter Scoop

This is a straightforward design for a 1 cc scoop used to measure the bulk density of powders. It's perfect for the "Don't Judge a Powder" part of middle school and high school Science Olympiad competitions. The interior of the scoop measures 10mm x 10mm x 10mm, which equals one cubic centimeter and also one milliliter. To find the bulk density, first weigh the empty scoop, then fill it to the top with a powder and reweigh (in grams). The mass you measure is the bulk density in grams/cubic centimeter. I'm grateful for V2 courtesy of tmorris9, who came up with the clever idea to make a version that doesn't need bridging. Unless you have an excellent printer, these scoops might not be water-tight, but they work wonderfully for powders.
