1:87 HO scale train depot with turntable
thingiverse
This project took me longer to bring to life than to conceptualize it. It's a modular train depot with a turntable that I'm proud to have finally completed after three weeks of non-stop printing. I still need to add some finishing touches to the turntable and the bridge - they're designed to be controlled by a stepping motor and Arduino, but I haven't had a chance to implement it yet. I'm also working on adding sliding doors for each cell, as well as end buffers - I just need to finish up the files. To be honest, I had some major printing issues with the windows - after 27 hours of printing and a quarter roll of filament, I discovered that some of them were damaged. I didn't want to reprint the whole thing, so I cut out all the windows (100 pieces for a 10-cell depot) and designed separate window frames. Since my paint job was going to be a long and difficult process, it ended up being better to have separate window frames printed in different colors - it saved me a ton of painting time. If you don't plan on adding electric rotation or train movement, you could probably print it the way it is right now. Stay tuned as this project continues to evolve. http://www.3dprintrc.com
