1.5" PVC sized wye/planter for a hydroponic tower
thingiverse
This is a 3D printed 45 degree wye, specifically designed for compatibility with 1.5" PVC pipes in tower hydroponics systems. Currently, I'm publishing a 4" section with one planter, and the intention is to stack as many of these sections as desired, allowing the tower to be mounted against a wall. The top section features an ID/OD configuration matching the OD of 1.5" PVC pipes, while the bottom section has an OD that fits snugly into another section or a 1.5" PVC pipe, with a zero-tolerance fit currently in place. My goal is to build a hydroponic tower similar to the one showcased on Joe Neumayer's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0VW6dHufMsuiD05Mkd6tQQ), but with an angled planter outlet that allows for different directions of water flow. This design aims to tighten up spacing by alternating left and right outlets along the tower, while also reducing costs by using affordable wyes instead of expensive ones. As of January 5th, 2020, this design is still a work in progress. I will be printing out samples over the next month to test fit and refine the design further. For optimal results, I recommend printing these wyes in dark plastic and painting gloss white on exposed surfaces only to prevent algae growth.
