1.5" Inline Radiator Hose Filter
thingiverse
This is a 3D printable rendition of the widely used inline radiator filter, designed specifically for classic cars with clogged or corroded water passages. Without a filter or regular cooling system flushing, your radiator will gradually become blocked as more debris breaks loose and drifts away. Equipped with 1 1/2" OD inlet and outlet barbs, this design can be easily integrated into various setups. Future versions may include additional sizes to accommodate broader upper radiator hose configurations. Included are a 3D printable screen filter and a 3D printable coil spring, although metal alternatives would likely offer greater durability. For optimal print quality, use a layer height of .5 mm for the spring and .15 mm for all other components. When it comes to materials, polycarbonate is the preferred choice for actual automotive applications due to its high glass transition temperature, which can withstand extreme heat and underhood chemicals. I've had successful results with E-Sun EPC filament so far, using a bed temperature of 100c and a nozzle temperature of 270-285c. When selecting O-Rings, TPE is the preferred option, but TPU might also be a viable alternative.
