1/40 scale Nike Hercules Missile
thingiverse
The Nike Hercules ground-to-air missile was deployed globally during the Cold War era, and its use declined as the Patriot missile system became operational. This versatile weapon was capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. This model features solid components to facilitate scaling up. By selecting zero infill and choosing perimeter settings, you can control wall thickness. At standard scale, the complete model measures 19.5 inches or 49 cm tall. Printing with one .5mm perimeter yields a lightweight model, while two perimeters produce a sturdier one. The displayed model is printed in E-Sun Solid White PETG and painted with Krylon Italian Olive paint+primer, achieving a realistic army olive-drab finish. This model lacks essential features for use as a flying model rocket but can be modified to accommodate this function. The Hercules upper stage has built-in supports for the upper fins, requiring scoring with a knife on both sides for removal after printing.
