1.4 turbo Dart Bov diverter adapter
thingiverse
I created a 3D model of an electronic diverter valve, blow off plate for a Dodge Dart turbo 1.4-liter engine. The goal was to allow built-up turbo pressure to vent into the atmosphere instead of recirculating through the diverter valve passage. I tested various materials, including PLA, ABS, PETG, nylon, and PC. Unfortunately, PLA and ABS melted quickly after the car warmed up, with no pressure being sent through. Meanwhile, PETG and nylon held up during an ambient warm-up but deformed differently in response to boosted turbo pressure and a subsequent throttle release. This resulted in the familiar sound and the appearance of a check engine light on the dashboard. After revising the design, I finally printed it using Poly carbonate filament. Two days of running my daily commute with no issues or deformations have confirmed its viability, with ongoing updates and additional pictures to follow if necessary.
