I'm building metal shelves that require levelers at the base, which consists of square tubing holding 1/4" nuts. I will use carriage bolts for this purpose and want to attach end caps made specifically for these levelers. Revision for Soft PLA Filament: To ensure a proper fit without adhesive, design an end cap that can be slid over the carriage bolt head using flexible filament such as Soft PLA. It should not require any bond to fit properly in place. Test prints need to be scaled accurately to slip the carriage bolt into it seamlessly, allowing room for trial and error until you get your desired outcome. Using 115% worked well with my test pieces made from Soft PLA, but do keep in mind that this might vary depending on your specific materials used. You should print a couple of initial test runs and check for fitting accordingly before deciding on final prints. Revision A for ABS or PLA Filament: For better adhesion between the end cap and the carriage bolt head using either ABS or PLA, make sure to apply cyanoacrylate glue specifically on the concave side of the cap. Prior to applying any adhesive, I cleaned my carriage bolt heads with acetone thoroughly to eliminate oil residue that might hinder a proper bond. Whatever method you use for bonding your end caps to the bolts ensure they're secured properly and prevent separation when tightening. Lastly, remember to adjust your STL render so that it's easy to position your end cap correctly on your build plate from underneath before beginning prints
