1/4" Dowel Jig
thingiverse
This is a precision-made dowel jig for joining two nominal 1" (0.75") wood pieces together securely. The two closely-spaced holes enable users to join a 1x2 piece of wood while the outer holes facilitate joining a 1x4 piece with ease. A small, strategically-placed window allows you to align the dowel's center accurately on both your wood pieces for seamless joining. To ensure accurate drilling, I utilized bronze bushings from Lowes (available at https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-1-Count-1-4-in-Bronze-Machine-Bushing/3024774). Simply press-fit them into the jig; note that it's essential to drill out the jig's holes with a 3/8 bit to achieve a snug fit. The stop collar relies on an M3x10mm bolt and nut for functionality. When setting up the stop collar, insert it into the jig and verify that it extends beyond half of the dowel's length on the opposite side. In the accompanying photos, you'll notice dry-fitting with scrap wood; however, this jig will soon be used on an actual project.
